For Sale By Owner (aka FSBO)

Because real estate broker commissions are so expensive, many home owners  have decided to sell their home without using the services of a real estate broker. They become a "For-Sale-By-Owner".

Because of the Internet (and other reasons) many homeowners have chosen  For- Sale- By- Owner because it makes selling a home yourself quick and easy. There are a number of websites that the  homeowner can use for advertising. In addition, it'll save you thousands of dollars by selling your  home without a real estate broker who charges up to 7% commission. 7% of a $400,000 home is $28,000!

Many people do not have 7% equity in their home. This is because of the "creative" financing programs that have become available in the past few years. These folks have no choice than to sell without a broker... unless they can come up with cash at closing to pay the fee.

Billions of dollars have been saved in real estate commissions by using the "For-Sale-By-Owner" way of selling, throughout the United States. I should know... I've been a real estate broker since 1968. I have been on the "other side" for many, many years. And, I know that in lots of cases, the unsuspecting public is getting hosed by the real estate brokerage community.

But, because I am now "retired" from the brokerage community, I am free to speak my mind as I do not have to be "loyal" to my industry and its position of protection of high brokerage fees!!!

For-Sale-By-Owner websites are among the most visited real estate sites in the world.

When you advertise your  house on a For-Sale-By-Owner website, you'll be exposing it to thousands of buyers across the U.S. Some of these For-Sale-By-Owner websites get millions of visitors a month because these websites spend millions of dollars a year on "on-line" marketing and advertising that drives thousands of buyers to their sites everyday.

Many sites spend millions of dollars a year on more traditional types of advertising such as radio, newspaper and direct mail.

Some are supported by a network of "ForSaleByOwner" magazines that appear in major markets and across the country, with millions of readers a month.

A For-Sale-By-Owner website can also increase your exposure by providing you with their professionally designed "high impact" lawn and directional signs. They tell all passers-by that your home is for sale and featured on the web sites. This gives your home unparalleled exposure.

Selling a home without a real estate broker can appear to be a daunting task, but it's not. Some websites offer real estate specialists that provide customer service with 24/7 on-line access and some provide a comprehensive "How To" guide to selling a home yourself making your For-Sale-By-Owner effort easier.

Putting your home on the Internet is very easy to do also. You can either email digital photos of your home or send photographs by mail. In some market areas, photographers are available to come to your home and take both interior and exterior photos of your home. Most advertising sites allow up to a 1,000 word description of your property on your ad (try to afford that in a newspaper ad) and change it whenever you want. Also, you can count the number of "visits" buyers made to your ad everyday.

For-Sale-By-Owner websites can make selling your home yourself easy.
